The Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, received an official invitation to participate in the next Arab summit that will be held in Saudi Arabia within days, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Presidency.
The statement illustrated that the invitation was sent from the King of Saudi Arabia, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to attend the 32nd Arab Summit in Jeddah.
The Iraqi President was handed the Saudi invitation while receiving the Saudi Ambassador to Iraq, Abdulaziz Al-Shammari, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Rashid stressed the need to hold the Arab summit at present to discuss and solve many important issues and to enhance cooperation between the countries of the region, INA reported.
The summit is scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia, on May 19.
Syria is expected to participate in the summit after the Arab League, during an extraordinary meeting held last Sunday, agreed to resume the participation of Syrian government delegations in all meetings of the Arab League, starting from May 7, after suspending Syria’s membership for more than 12 years.
