Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Abdullahian expressed his thanks to the Iraqi government and people for the great organization of the million-man pilgrimage for the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
“Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein received a call from his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Abdullahian. The Iranian minister thanked, in the name of the Iranian government and people, the government and people of Iraq for the great organization for the million-man visit to Holy Karbala and to thank the Iraqi people for their generous hospitality and warm reception of visitors during the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him),” said the Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahhaf in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
For his part, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed that “the Iraqi people are proud of the visitors to Karbala, and the federal government, the Kurdistan Regional Government, and all local governments in the governorates were at the service of the visitors.”
Al-Sahhaf pointed out, “In another aspect of the conversation, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and expressed their assessment of the continuing development of these relations. They also discussed on the security agreement between the federal government and the Islamic Republic, and the commitment of both parties, emphasizing on the steps that were implemented in the Kurdistan Region.”
“The Iranian Minister invited the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs to visit Tehran to discuss a group of important bilateral issues related to the interests of the two neighboring countries,” he included.
