3.6 magnitude earthquake hits Maysan, Southern Iraq

The Ministry of Transportation announced on Friday that its seismic observatories recorded a seismic tremor in Maysan Province.

“The earthquake was recorded at exactly 11:41:41 of this day local time, and it had a magnitude of (3.6) degrees, near the Iraqi-Iranian border and i 58 km southeast of Ali al-Gharbi, Maysan Governorate.,” stated the ministry in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency-INA.

The statement added,” The residents in Ali Al-Gharbi district did not perceive the tremor, and no losses had been recorded”.

The ministry called, according to the statement, “citizens to take caution and avoid rumors and false news, and adhere to the seismic commandments issued by the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismic observatories.”
