Prime Minister Muhammed S. Al-Sudani, met the Lebanese Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, in New York on the sidelines of the 78th session of UN General Assembly.
The meeting involved discussions on enhancing bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and exploring avenues to strengthen their partnership across various sectors, according to a statement by the PM Media Office, received by Al-Ghadeer.
Al-Sudani asserted “Iraq’s commitment to supporting Lebanon’s stability, helping it overcome economic challenges, and mitigating the impact of regional and global crises. This commitment is rooted in principled positions that emphasize economic integration and strengthened cooperation between the two nations for the mutual benefit of the Iraqi and Lebanese people.”
In turn, Prime Minister Mikati expressed “his appreciation for Iraq’s supportive positions and the ongoing support it extends to Lebanon. He emphasized the significance of exploring additional economic and investment opportunities that have mutual benefits,” highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing economic challenges, as well as the impacts of global crises and climate change affecting countries in the region.
