Nineveh declares mourning for a week and postpones the celebrations of the Prophet’s birthday

The Governor of Nineveh, Najm al-Jubouri, announced today, Wednesday, a week of mourning and the postponement of special celebrations on the occasion of the birth of the Prophet (PBUH) following a fire in the wedding hall in Al-Hamdaniya.

A statement from his office received by Al-Ghadeer stated, “Al-Jubouri declared mourning for a period of one week and postponed the special celebrations on the occasion of the birth of the Messenger Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, until further notice, in mourning and grief for the martyrs of the fire that occurred in an event hall in the Al-Hamdaniya district.”
Al-Jubouri directed to “hold a moment of silence and mourning in all departments and institutions of Nineveh Governorate tomorrow, Thursday.”
