Iraqi Defense Ministry announced Friday that its minister, Najah al-Shammari, ordered to form an inquiry commission following the release of an audio clip attributed to the commander of Anbar operations, Mahmoud al-Falahi, to communicate with the CIA.
Iraqi Defense Minister “ordered the formation of an inquiry commission to find out the facts after the emergence of audio recording to media” ministry said in a statement.
“This minister’s procedure is to deal with what is being published in the media and to scrutinize the information in the public interest and to show the facts to preserve the security of the country,” the statement added.
On Friday, a voice recording said to be a telephone conversation between Anbar’s chief of operations, Maj. Gen. Mahmoud Khalaf al-Falahi, and another person who was said to be an “agent” of the CIA.
The alleged recording of the CIA’s demands the commander of operations in Anbar, to provide him with coordinates of the positions of the Iraqi army and the security forces and popular mobilization forces, stressing the names of the sites of “Hezbollah Brigades” in the city of Qaim, Anbar in particular.
