More than 24 million Yemenis need aid

Wafaa came from Taiz with her husband and three children when a mosque next to her house was destroyed. The landlord has taken their house back so they are not able to return. Wafaa used to work in Taiz but since fleeing to a local school, she cannot afford for her children to see a doctor when they are sick and they walk in the streets without any shoes. The school recieves blankets and bedding from an organisation but she does not recieve any food. Her husband has not been able to work and is unable to provide for her children.

Wafaa says "I wish for the war to stop and for the situation to get better so my husband can work again and provide for me and for my children.  I don’t want to see my children displaced, I don’t want to sit at home, beg others and wait for their help. I want clothes and other items for my kids and I don’t want to ask others to provide these for them. "

According to a recent UN report, the number of Yemenis who need humanitarian assistance reached 24.1 million, with the continuation of the Saudi and Emirati aggression, since March 2015.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said in a report that malnutrition continues to have a significant impact on the well-being of millions of Yemenis.

According to the agency “Anatolia”, the report noted that malnutrition is still a factor that affects a wide way of life of Yemenis, especially children.

The report revealed the displacement of 3.56 million Yemenis since the beginning of the war led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, more than four years ago, and the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance exceeded 24 million Yemenis.

UNHCR explained that it had carried out activities for internally displaced persons, returnees to their homes and members of the host community for displaced persons throughout Yemen, including the establishment of 23 multi-purpose shelters for displaced persons to Amran governorate, north of Sana’a.
