Baghdad and Ankara have agreed on building three water dams in the Kurdistan Region, a Kurdish lawmaker in the Iraqi Parliament revealed on Tuesday.
Mohammed Amin, a member of the agricultural committee, pointed out that the three water dams, which are planned to be established in Meegasor town of Erbil province, will benefit the Kurdistan Region, Northern Iraq.
He noted that the water projects could encourage part of the people in Erbil to return to the surrounding villages after the area will be rich in water once again and that it also helps Iraq with more production of power supply.
Amin further said that they will meet on Wednesday with the Turkish officials to discuss the matter and make decisions on the issue.
