Kaaba Unites Us online campaign aims to celebrate Hajj

Social media activists have officially launched the “Kaaba Unites Us” online campaign to celebrate the Hajj Islamic pilgrimage.

In a statement on Monday, a group of online activists said Hajj required special attention on the social media as it both united Muslims from all backgrounds and provided a unique way for others to better get familiarized with Islam.

In their statement, the group invited all social media users to use the #KaabaUnitesUs Eglish hashtag to spread the word.

Organizers expressed hope that the campaign would help neuter efforts by the United States and Israel to sow discord between Muslims and eventually help take the Islamic world a step closer to its ultimate objectives.

Hajj is one of the key secondary principles of Islam. Each year, in Dhu’l-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar, Muslims from across the world travel to Saudi Arabia to partake in the Hajj ceremony. Each Muslim should at least take the trip once in their lifetime, provided that they have the financial means.

The pilgrims will be required to perform several rituals near the Kaaba, or the House of God, in the city of Mecca. the Hajj gathering around Kaaba has been touted as one of the world’s largest gatherings and helps Muslims get to know each other better and become more united.

However, there has been several issues in the past years that have overshadowed the real potentials of Hajj.
