Iraqi military intelligence forces arrested on Sunday two Islamic State terrorists at a security checkpoint in Mosul city.
The pair had fled Mosul city to Erbil province in Iraqi Kurdistan region following the crushing defeat of the Daesh terrorist group in Iraq in 2017, Iraqi media quoted the Military Intelligence Directorate as saying in a press statement.
The two terrorists are wanted by the Iraqi judiciary for their involvement in several attacks against security forces in Mosul city, the statement read.
Iraq declared the collapse of Islamic State’s territorial influence in November 2017 with the recapture of Rawa, a city on Anbar’s western borders with Syria, which was the group’s last bastion in Iraq.
