Iraq: Eight Daesh terrorist killed in Nineveh.

Eight Daesh terrorists were killed Sunday in an air raid that targeted a terrorist hotbed in the northern Iraqi province of Nineveh.

“The US-led international coalition warplanes launched an airstrike, targeting a terrorist hotbed in Hamam al-Alil district in Nineveh,” the Security Media Cell said in a press statement.

“Eight Islamic State terrorists were killed in the air raid,” the statement read, adding that the operation was carried out based on intelligence information.

Former Iraqi prime minister Haider al-Abadi announced in August 2017 that Nineveh province was fully liberated from Islamic State after the district of Tal Afar was recaptured.

The announcement came after the defeat of the terrorist group in the town of Ayadiya, where the militants had fled to from Tal Afar.

Islamic State militants seized control of much of Nineveh, including the provincial capital of Mosul, on June 2014.
