Iraqi counter-terrorism forces conducted an airdrop operation on Monday in an area between Diyala and Salahaddin provinces where they killed 15 Islamic State (IS) terrorists, security officials confirmed.
Ali Haidar, an officer with Diyala intelligence police, said that the Iraqi forces were backed by the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) also known as Hashed al-Sha’abi, during the operation.
They captured nine other terrorists during the operation, Haidar revealed.
“Several weapon caches and improvised explosive devices were seized from the militants with their hideouts destroyed,” he added.
