Iraq announces its position on the presence of ‘international forces’ in the Gulf

Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahaf said on Thursday that Iraq will not join any “international force” claiming to protect the waterways in the Gulf, and rejects the participation of the Zionist entity in it.

Sahaf said in a press statement, “Iraq will not join any international force to protect the waterways in the Gulf (Persian), in addition to his rejection of the participation of the Zionist entity in this process.”

The statement added that “Iraq believes that the protection of the Gulf is the responsibility of the countries bordering it.”
