Representative of the Organization for Defending Victims of Violence (ODVV) at the Human Rights Council described the situation in Yemen as the most catastrophic man-made crisis of all times and stressed that all armed countries including US, UK, and France, should stop military support of the coalition.
“According to the field report on Yemen confirmed by the UN, about 30 million civilians lives are threatened by starvation if bombardment does not stop.” the representative said on Wednesday in Human Rights Council session in Geneva.
He called on the international community to fortify efforts to establish peace in Yemen and halt airstrikes.
On the situation of Muslims in Norway, he urged the government to take measures to limit the rise of Islamophobia movement and hate speech against Muslims.
The representative also urged Norway to ensure that all minorities enjoy their full human rights.
On Canada, ODVV representative expressed serious concern over the indigenous people especially the content of the final report of the international inquiry that considered the disappearance of thousands of indigenous women and girls across the country as a Canadian genocide.
He further noted that ODVV calls on the council to immediately launch a deeper study on the breach of indigenous rights on the country.
