Iraq has deployed forces to the border with Syria to foil the possible infiltration of the Islamic State (IS), after reports said that a number of terrorists had broken out of prison due to the Turkish bombardments near jails in northeastern Syria.
After Turkey began its operation against the Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria on Wednesday, the US-backed Kurdish fighters said that they no longer have the ability to guard the IS detainees held in Syria due to the Turkish attacks on them.
They also warned Iraq about the situation, especially after five extremists managed to break out of prison on Friday after a Turkish attack near the facility.
Baghdad, therefore, has sent a great number of forces to the border areas to thwart any infiltrations by the militants.
