The terrorists of the Islamic State (IS) carried out an attack on an Iraqi Army unit in the province of Salahaddin overnight on Thursday, with casualties reported.
Iraq’s Security Media Cell said in a statement that the terrorists targeted the military base in the town of Tarmiyah, in Salahuddin province.
Shortly after the clash, the terrorists exploded a couple of bombs which resulted in the killing of one Iraqi soldier, while five more were injured, the statement added.
Iraq declared the full victory over the Islamic State almost two years ago, but the extremist group has so far continued to impose a great threat to the security forces and civilians through its sleeper cells.
